Algeria becomes one of the creditor countries in 2012

Jeudi 27 Décembre 2012

The year 2012 was a good year economically for Algeria: exchange reserves nearing $200 billion, trade surplus of more than $26 billion, an external public debt less than $410 million but the great achievement was the $5 billion loan granted by Algeria to IMF.

Overall, all macroeconomic indicators turn green, even if inflation and unemployment darken this idyllic picture of an Algerian economy resolutely oriented towards a strategic public-private partnership.

During the presentation of the action plan to the Parliament, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal had reported exchange reserves of 193.7 billion dollars, an overall GDP of the country of 16,160 billion dinars (more than 218 billion dollars at 2012) and a GDP per capita of more than $ 4,000 for the year 2012.

Before MPs during the presentation of large aggregates of Finance Act 2013, Finance Minister Karim Djoudi indicated that the balance of the Revenue Regulation Fund, real box of surplus resulting from hydrocarbons exports, meant to fund budget deficit and investment projects stood at 6,485.8 billion dinars (more than 87 billion dollars).

2012,for cooperation between the two public and private sectors

The year 2012 has also been marked by the new policy of cooperation between the two public and private sectors, and between private operators and the government.

The Prime Minister has also strongly recommended during his first meeting with Employers and Trade Union (UGTA) in Algeria last November, while calling for a pact of growth in 2013. Sellal had actually proposed to build together a’’ true’’ growth pact to boost investment and production.

"In 2013, I hope that together we can build a real growth pact. It is no longer possible to have only 700,000 SMEs in Algeria,’’ he told employers’ organizations and trade unions, saying that’’ the time is right to motivate the company, whether public or private, without distinction."
