Algeria and Morocco have the "political will" to strengthen their reconciliation (El Khalfi)

Moroccan Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, Mustapha El Khalfi, said on Sunday in Algiers,that Morocco and Algeria have "the political will" to strengthen their reconciliation.

"There is a willingness between the two countries to strengthen their political ties, cultural and social," said El Khalfi to the press, after talks with Minister of Communications, Nacer Mehal, which took place with the members of both delegations, APS reports.

He stressed on this occasion that the two sides discussed ways of "working for the media to represent the lever for reconciliation".

Mr. El Khalfi said the talks focused in this regard  on the "strengthening of relations in the media", including television, radio, news agencies and newspapers, besides the use of new technologies.

He said the two countries are working on the "development of a common agenda" regarding the challenges of new technologies in information and communication.

He added that the talks focused on achieving the political will expressed by the Moroccan King, Mohammed VI and President of  the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to the strengthen the relations between the two peoples.

The Moroccan Communications Minister and government spokesman said on his arrival in Algiers that his visit to Algeria was  part of a series of visits that reflect the "will to deepen and strengthen" cooperation between the two peoples and the two governments.

Our hope is that "this visit will be the birth of new media relations between the two countries," he said, noting the existence of  a "memorandum of understanding on strengthening the relationship in terms of  media training and media coverage ".

The visit is part of the regular pattern of  ministerial meetings to deepen cooperation. APS and MAP are due to sign a cooperation agreement during Mr El Khelfi's visit.
