Algeria: SNTF to invest 127 billion dinars 2012-2015

A budget of 127 billion Algerian dinars has been allocated to the Algerian National Railway Company (SNTF).It is launching this ambitious investment program for 2012-2015.

SNTF will use this sum for the renewal and development of rolling equipment. The new plan focuses on the rehabilitation and modernisation of existing equipment and the purchase of new equipment.
 
SNTF intends to launch a tender for the acquisition of 30 new diesel electric locomotives. Four new locomotives are scheduled for 2013, fifteen for 2014 and eleven for 2015, APS reports.

Seventeen long-distance railcars are to be bought by SNTF in order to ensure the transport of travellers on the new lines under construction. The new three-year programme also provides for the acquisition of 8 railcars in 2014 and 9 others in 2015.
 
The transport of travellers will be improved by the purchase of twenty long-distance electric locomotives and thirty sleeping cars for night trains.
