Consumer prices in Algeria increased by more than 8% during last July in comparison with the same period of 2011, accentuating the annual inflation which reached 7.5% against 7.3% last June, the National Statistics Office indicated

The consumer price index grew by 8.20% in July 2012 in comparison with the same period of last year, an increase caused mainly by the 18% rise of fresh agricultural produces.
 
Foodstuffs in general increased of nearly 10.7% with 18.1% for the fresh agricultural produces and 4.6% for the industrial foodstuffs, NOS said, APS reports.
 
Prices of all the necessary produces to the preparation of Ramadan dishes (vegetables, fresh fruits and meat) soared, notably on in the second half of July and also the beginning of the Holy Month.
 
Indeed, prices of all the fresh foodstuffs increased notably sheep meat (30.3%), fresh fruits (28.7%), vegetables (5.66%), chicken (16.3%), fresh fish (15.5%) and beef with more than (8%), according to NOS figures.
