Algeria: ICT training program for the promotion of digital literacy

An extensive training program to promote digital literacy and improve the assimilation of new technologies of information and communication within companies and institutions was launched on Sunday as part of e-Algeria program.

The program, which lasts three years, will receive, in its first phase, 3,600 trainers in the sectors of education, vocational training, labor, youth and sports.

This operation, initiated by the Ministry of Post and Information Technology and Communication, is part of the implementation of the e-Algeria program, one of the major axes for the general access to ICT for all Algerian society, including job seekers.

To achieve this goal and ensure the success of this operation, the Department has used the experience and expertise of the internationally renowned Foundation (European computer driving license-ECDL), specializing in the implementation of programs mass training in ICT.

According to Halim Mahi, director of "ICDL-el-Djazair" ECDL subsidiary in Algeria, "there is now a need to make every effort to enable Algeria to participate fully in a global economy" .

Mr. Mahi told APS on the sidelines of a work shop announcing the launch of the operation, the goal is to train and certify 500,000 people each year.

ECDL Foundation is present in 148 countries around the world. It is a world reference in digital culture and its certification programs are designed, validated and approved by industry experts and academics.
