Al Judaida prison in Tripoli suffers mass breakout
Judaida prison is the biggest jail in Libya and falls under the jurisdiction of the interior ministry. A spokesman from the interior ministry was quoted by the Daily Mail said that the police service was very weak and it was difficult to gauge the loyalty of security officials working for the government.

The authorities claim to have recaptured around 60 of the 120 fugitives who escaped from the al-Judaida prison in Fornaj yesterday, according to the Libyan Herald. The exact circumstances surrounding the breakout remained unclear today, but it is reckoned the escape was facilitated by a lack of guards and the inability of the Ministry of Justice to fully man the jail.

In another incident  a military official has been assassinated in Benghazi. Captain Adel Baqramawi was killed around 2 am on Tuesday, when a bomb was thrown at his Hyundai car from a pickup truck. He is the 15th military official to be murdered in the city this year. Just over a month ago, an airforce colonel, Badr Khamis Al-Obedi, was assassinated in a drive-by shooting as he left Benghazi’s Saida Aisha mosque after prayers. There is speculation thata hit list of former regime officers still in service has been compiled by islamist militants, the Libya Herald reports.
