Ahmed Ouyahia resigns as RND Secretary General
Ahmed Ouyahia announced on Thursday his resignation as Secretary General of the National Democratic Rally (RND) party, in a message sent to the party executives. .

His resignation takes effect as from 15 January 2013. Ouyahia explained that his resignation comes after having "assessed the current situation of the party." He hoped that RND regains its confidence and serenity, reported APS.
Ahmed Ouyahia had been under pressure to quit as secretary general frommebers of the RND party for several months and the former prime minister also wants to end his involvement with party activity to prepare for the presidential elections when he intends to present himself as a candidate according to the website TSA.
His resignation comes at a time when Abdelaiziz Belkhadem's future as secretary of the FLN party is also in question .
