AfDB Says Morocco, Catalyst for Trade Exchange with Africa

Rabat - Morocco plays a fundamental role as a vehicle of investment and catalyst for trade exchange with the rest of Africa, Deputy-President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Aly Abou Sabaa, said Wednesday.

"Morocco has a major role to play, notably to anchor African values in the global economy and help channel foreign investment to the continent," Sabaa said at a conference celebrating the 50th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the AfDB.

Praising the "exemplary" dialogue between Morocco and the countries of West and Central Africa, noting that the trade agreements signed between the Kingdom and these countries hold the great promise that Morocco could actually use and enjoy this role of regional "hub".

"The economic transformation of the African continent is the cornerstone of our 2013-2022 strategy aimed at transforming the continent's economy and supporting its long-term growth. This vision provides that the continent will become - within a generation - a global growth pole", he underlined.
