Libreville - The need to address the challenge of food security in Africa is vital and strategic for the continent, said foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar.

The Moroccan-Gabonese strategic partnership in the fertilizer field, signed on Thursday in Libreville under the chairmanship of HM King Mohammed VI and President of Gabon Ali Bongo Ondimba, is a strong signal of the choices and orientations of Morocco which puts the issue at the heart of its concerns, he told the press.

Mezouar underlined that the complementarity between Morocco and Gabon in terms of natural resources offers great opportunities to African farmers and the agricultural sector in Africa in general, likely to enable ensure food self-sufficiency. He also highlighted the particular importance of the royal visit to Gabon, fourth and last leg of a tour that took the Sovereign to other African countries, noting that the agreements that will be signed will benefit not only the two countries but all countries in the African continent.
