AU Expresses "Deep Regret" over Severance of Diplomatic Relations Between Morocco and Algeria

Addis Ababa - The President of the Commission of the African Union (AU) Moussa Faki Mahamat expressed, on Thursday, his "deep regret" following the severance of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Algeria, pillar countries of the AU. "The President of the Commission deplored any deterioration of the fraternal, historical, multidimensional relations between the two States and the two brotherly Maghreb peoples", underlined Faki Mahamat in a press release.

The President of the Commission called on the two members of the AU to engage resolutely in a logic of peace and fruitful cooperation in the well-understood interests of the two peoples. He reiterated the entire readiness of the AU to promote any initiative for the resumption of fraternal relations between the two countries in the service of peace and prosperity in the Maghreb and in Africa.
