Rabat - Amnesty International-Morocco called on the government to list as a priority the support of human rights' protection and their consolidation in the reform process initiated in the Kingdom.

The government is expected to grant human rights their rightful place in the Constitution and in international conventions, said on Wednesday in Rabat the president of Amnesty International-Morocco, Driss Haidar, during a press conference devoted to the presentation of the organization's annual report on the situation of human rights in the world.

Haidar, who highlighted the "several achievements made" in recent years by Morocco in the field of human rights, called on the government to end "politics impeding freedom of expression and assembly and the creation of associations" and to provide NGOs working in the field of human rights "political and financial support that is necessary" to fulfill their missions.

Moreover, the president of Al-Morocco listed several challenges faced by Morocco in connection with the consolidation of human rights, including the strengthening of security and the fight against terrorist threats, the completion of the implementation of the recommendations of the Equity and Reconciliation Commission (IER), the fight against corruption and impunity and the strengthening of women's rights.
