Following a test launch in 2011, ZTE has opted for Tunisia in its bid to enter the African market. The Chinese company's Tunisian partner, Rayencom, will benefit from the exclusive distribution of a wide range of ZTE products.

"The Tunisian market has answered very favorably. Both ZTE and its Tunisian partner have decided to launch the brand in June 2012 which boasts an innovative technology and an excellent quality- price ratio," Fadhel Kerkache, a consultant for Rayencom, told Xinhua.

With more than 9 million mobile phone subscribers against a population of 10.6 million people, Tunisians are one of the largest mobile phone users in Africa.

"In spite of the saturation of Tunisian telecom market, ZTE has managed to find its place in Tunisia," Rayencom's CEO Belhassen Zemni told Xinhua.

"ZTE collaborates with 500 telephone operators in the world and is present in more than 140 countries in the world, including the United States and Europe," ZTE's marketing director, Jasmine Xu, told Xinhua, adding that the Chinese company which employs 85,000 people, has 107 sales representations worldwide.

ZTE's turnover is estimated at 13.6 billion U.S. dollars for 2011, representing a growth of 28.6 percent as against 2010, she said.

In Tunisia, ZTE will commercialize five products, including two smartphones and a tablet running on android 2.3.

The Chinese telecom giant is confident that its products will find new markets in Tunisia, given the local demand for quality mobile handsets at reasonable prices.
