Wilmington Port and "Fresh Fruit Maroc" reach agreement on five-year importation of Moroccan clementines

Washington - The port of Wilmington (state of Delaware) and the "Fresh Fruit Maroc" export group have reached a five-year agreement for the importation of Moroccan clementines, a source at Delaware governor's office said.

The Wilmington port, the largest one in terms of perishable goods importation (particularly fruits and juice concentrate) and the largest cold storage platform in North America is the major port of entry for Moroccan exports of clementines.

The agreement provides for maintaining until 2017 the port as a distribution hub in North America for clementine exported by "Fresh Fruit Maroc". The volume of Moroccan exported clementines to the Wilmington port will increase by close to 30pc in the present season, says the source which added that 10 to 13 shipments will land there annually with a volume of 35,000 tons of fruits.
