WAC/RCA Derby: Up to One Year in Prison against Four People for Vandalism

Casablanca - The Criminal Chamber of the first instance court of Casablanca on Tuesday gave sentences ranging from two-month suspended prison sentence to a year in prison against four people for their involvement in acts of vandalism during the Wydad/Raja derby, held on December 20th at the Mohammed V Sports Complex
The court sentenced one of the thirteen people sued in this case to a two-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 500 dirhams.

Two other convicts were handed a five-month prison sentence and a fine of 500 dirhams.

The same court sentenced an individual to one year in prison and a fine of 1,000 dirhams, as well a denial of access to the Mohammed V Sports Complex for one year.

The Casablanca police said that 43 individuals were arrested following the acts of vandalism that occurred during the Casablanca derby at the 12th day of Morocco's league 1.

The acts of vandalism damaged public and private property (three police cars and four urban buses) and injured 25 police officers, according to the same source.
