The court had ruled that it was competent to hear the case filed in 2007 and summoned several victims, attorney José Manuel Romero, told MAP office in Madrid.

The victims are Dahi Aguai, president of the association of missing persons and himself a victim of abuses and Saadani Malainine, daughter of the late El Wali Seikh Slama.

The attorney said that two of those accused in the case, Polisario's former representative in Spain, Brahim Ghali, (presently in Algeria), and intelligence agent, Lincoln Mahjoub, will appear before the court on August 16 to face charges of "genocide, torture, forced disappearance, illegal detention and serious human rights violations".

The judge had recently asked the Spanish police to find the persons accused and notify them of the complaint filed against them.

Several leaders of the Polisario are among those listed in the complaint.
