Rabat - The Valencia region aims to strengthen its cooperation with Morocco in various fields, said, Monday in Rabat, head of the local government of this Spanish region, Ximo Puig.

"The main objective of this visit is to strengthen and deepen cooperation relations with Morocco in various fields," he stressed in a statement to the press at the end of his talks with head of government, Saâd Dine El Otmani, expressing the firm willingness of his government and its full readiness to consolidate this bilateral cooperation.

The Spanish official noted that the Kingdom is considered as the gateway from Europe to Africa, while Spain is seen as the entry from Africa to Europe, which offers great opportunities for both parties.

He noted that his meeting with the head of government was an occasion to address the challenges of this cooperation, particularly in the economic field, as well as to discuss "tax incentives and opportunities offered by Morocco to companies of the Valencia region".

Puig is leading an economic delegation on a four-day visit to Morocco (16-19 February) to explore investment opportunities and discuss possibilities for strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations.

Around 63 companies from the Valencia region are located in several regions of Morocco and operate in various sectors, and more than 2,900 enterprises from the same region export to the Kingdom.

Exports from the Valencia region to Morocco exceeded 689 million euros at the end of November 2019, posting an increase of around 1.93% over one year.
