US company to participate in Moroccan oil exploration off El Jadida

Plains Exploration and Production Co (PXP) is headquartered Houston, has said it plans to pay $ 15 million, for an exploration license in the Mazagan permit area for oil exploration off the coast of El Jadida.

 PXP will make a cash payment of $15 million to farm-in to Pura Vida Energy's 75% working interest in the 2.7 million acre Mazagan permit area offshore Morocco. PXP is awaiting final approval by ONHYM  and said it plans to drill  2 wells for evaluation by 2014.

Over 30 international oil and ga companies(IOCs) are now engaged in oil and gas exploration on and offshore in Morocco as the country makes a determined push for a major discovery in its long quest for a significant ol find.  IOC'sinvesting in Morocco include, amongst others, Cairn Energy, Circle oil, Dana Petroleum, Genel Energy, Kosmos, Petro-Canada (Suncor), Repsol, RWE, San Leon, TransAtlantic.
