Samedi 29 Février 2020

Rabat - UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Women Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka highlighted, on Friday in Rabat, Morocco's gender equality efforts. Gender equality is something Morocco is known for and "we would like to see it in many other countries," said the UN official in a press statement following her talks with Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Mohcine Jazouli.

"We want to see Morocco as one of the member states that will commit to raising gender equality to a higher level," she insisted. She also expressed her thanks to Morocco for hosting the fifth UN-Women World Forum for Safe Cities and Public Spaces, held on February 26 to 28 in Rabat, voicing confidence that the Kingdom will be one of the countries that will prove "that we are going to achieve very substantial gender equality". "We think that it can be done with the lessons we have learned, some of which have been highlighted here in Morocco," said the UN official, calling for speeding up the process of change.
