UAE's Masdar signs renewables deal with Morocco

Masdar has signed a framework agreement with Morocco's Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment to co-operate on renewable energy schemes.

Masdar was launched in 2006 by the Abu Dhabi government to advance renewable energy and sustainable technologies through education, R&D, investment and commercialization. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Government-owned Mubadala Development Company,according to the construction industry website constructionweekonline.
 
Morocco has set itself a target of generating42% of power from renewable sources by 2020, and Masdar's CEO Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said the country was n ambitious supporter of the adoption of renewable energy projects.
 
 He said that Morocco is capitalizing on its abundant solar and wind energy resources, Morocco is establishing a strong renewable energy industry that will drive economic development and diversify its energy portfolio and Masdar looked forward to contributing to Morocco’s renewable energy industry.
 
 Morocco's Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, Fouad Douiri said that Morocco has major wind and solar resources and was seeking cooperation with other renewable energy partners.
