Tunisians march against rising political violence

Thousands of secular Tunisians marched in Habib Bourgiba avenue against continuing political violence following the death of Lofi Nakd, a member of the Nida Tounes party in Tataouine during clashes between secular party members and islamists linked to Ennhada,according to Reuters.

Beji Caid Essebsi leader of Nida Tounes (The Call of Tunisia) accused Ennhada of being responsible for the death of Lofi Nakd, a union leader  who is said to have died of a heart attack died .Beji Caid Essebsi said that Tunisia is falling into chaos under the islamist government. The demonstration took place a year to the day when Ennhada won the elections on 23 October 2011.

The U.S.-based Human Rights Watch said last week that Tunisia was failing to crack down on Islamist violence against advocates of secularism including journalists and artists.

The demonstration was held by Nida Tounes,the Repubican party and Al Massar.Yassine Brahim, Executive Director of the Republican Party called for an end to the violence which undermined the goals of the revolution, La Presse reported. President Al Massar, Ahmed Brahim said that the march was for stability and an end  to
violence.He called for an end to the so called "leagues protection of the revolution".

Ahmed Najib Chebbi, president of the High Political Committee of the Republican Party, called for the disbanding of militias and the resignation of the interior minister and a guarantee of neutrality by the security services towards citizens, La presse reported.
