Minister of Justice Mr. Noureddine Beheiri issued a statement on Saturday saying "It has become imperative to end this situation which taints the honour, dignity and integrity of the judiciary,"
Tunisia fires 81 magistrates.
The magistrates, whose identities were not revealed, are accused of having "obeyed orders and dabbled in embezzlements, while handing down rulings in violation of the law to protect personal interests," said Justice Minister Nourredine Beheiri in an interview Sunday with newspaper Achourouk.

He added that those affected were a minority and that most of the country's 2,000 magistrates were upright.

The Minister was asked about  the rights of people who have been sentenced by these corrupt judges, he said, if it is proved the existence of a link between the injury to those who are sentenced and committed by the judge who has been discharged, they may request reconsideration, which is  a right guaranteed by law.

He affirmed that "we want to reform  from within a vision which is  deep and progressive, giving each his right and our methodology is to change the lack of responsibility of people of their identity and their affiliations and their families, we want to build a new country and when entering into new power with an  independent judiciary  which oversees the country and achieve the goals of the revolution."

The magistrates union on Sunday expressed surprise at the decision, union’s chief Raouda Laabidi said that
the procedure did not allow the judges to defend themselves according to TAP.
