Tunisia at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival

Three Tunisian films have been proposed by the Ministry of Culture to the organizers of the 65th International Film Festival of Cannes, from May 16 to 27.

"Tunisia will attend the Cannes Film Festival, from May 16 to 27, while taking into account the main objectives of this presence, namely: the development of partnerships in the field of cinema, promotion and dissemination of film production Tunisia and the parties' commitment to represent Tunisia to work towards achieving these objectives, "said Mehdi Mabrouk, Minister of Culture on Tuesday in a statement to Tap.

For his part, Fathi Kharrat, General Manager of Performing Arts and Audiovisual within the department, said that his department has proposed to the direction of Cannes three Tunisian feature films:''' Nessma Hmida of El Behi,'' "Dégage'' by Mohamed Zran,'' and'' A Thousand leaves by Nouri Bouzid.

The answer will be known, he said at a press conference soon in France, devoted to the films of different sections of the Festival.

Regarding the short film (Short Film Corner), the Festival management has accepted the participation of three Tunisian works:'' Offering'' in Walid Mattar (fiction),'' Sandcastles'' Mustapha and Teib Serj'' Jebel'' of Amri Hassen (documentary), which received support from the French Institute of Tunisia (Ift).

Moreover, and even with the support of Ift, the young producer Tunisian Mohamed Ben Ali Hamra will participate from 19 to 25 May, in  professional activities'' flag Cinemas of the World'' with its project'' Please yourself with the worst ' '. Single area of discovery, exchange and promotion, this pavilion is dedicated to cinema from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The goal is to promote cinematographic and cultural diversity.
