Tunis: The party's political bureau of the unified democratic patriots decided by consensus Sunday the appointment of Lakhdar Zied as secretary general of the party.

"The party's central committee decided at the end of its work on Sunday to delegate to the party's political bureau the appointment of a new Secretary General to replace Chokri Belaid murdered on 6 February," said Samir Rabhi in a statement to TAP news agency.
