The next tour of Tunisian President in the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) aims to reactivate the Maghreb Union project
The tour by the Tunisian President Marzouki next week of Morocco, Mauritania and Algeria, is part of the efforts to revive the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), said the spokesman for the Tunisian Presidency, Adnène Mansar.

In response to the question of MAP during a press briefing at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, the spokesman said it is time to overcome the problems regarding Maghreb cooperation through a Maghreb Summit, that Tunisia is willing to accommodate in the coming months.
This summit will be a relevant sign "of a revival of the Maghreb Union," he said.
The Tunisian presidential adviser, Samir Ben Amor, announced last week that President Marzouki would conduct working visits to Morocco, Mauritania and Algeria, during the first week of February.
Referring to the meetings of the Tunisian president with African leaders in Addis Ababa, at the summit of the African Union (AU), Mr. Mansar said the discussions focused on issues related to coordination and promotion cooperation between the Maghreb, the Sahel and Sahara to deal with security problems that threaten the region, saying that one state alone can not cope with these dangers.
It was considered moreover that the revitalization of the AMU is likely to help establish a common policy for fight against terrorism, in coordination with the countries of the Sahel and Sahara, MAP concludes.
In an interview in Addis Ababa at the OUA, President Marzouki said that "Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria have a common future in the Grand Maghreb" adding that the AMU was atop priority for Tunisia and "2012 will be the year of the Maghreb" .
