The American Joe Kazidi will be appointed head of the Algerian subsidiary of global giant Arcelor Mittal Steel, replacing Vincent Le Gouic, APS has learned from sources close to the company on Sunday.
The American Joe Kazadi new CEO of Arcelor Mittal Algeria.
The appointment of Mr. Kazadi will be validated at the meeting of the Board and the General Assembly of Arcelor Mittal, set  for next Wednesday in Annaba, the source added.

Mr. Kazadi "has extensive experience in world class key managerial roles, particularly in the aluminum industry."  He was CEO of Aluminium Plant Podgorica  in Montenegro and also worked for the Candian Aluminium giant Alko. He graduated from the prestigious University MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the source said.

The appointment of Kazadi was necessary, the source added, because of the need "to establish a regional organization to allow the complex of El Hajar position itself regionally as a true champion steel".

Observers said the change at the head of Arcelor Mittal Annaba, comes just after the last crisis in the complex of El Hajar in which  Vincent Le Gouic played "a negative role."

M. Gouic suspended a deposit payment  with the Court of El Hajar in response to the Banque Exterieur d'Algérie who had refused to grant credit without collateral. The filing of termination had been denied by the parent company in Luxembourg.

M. Gouic will support business management for the division of North Africa in the group, said the source.

The Board of Directors of Arcelor Mitttal Algeria should also validate  the investment plan 2012-2017 of the complex, a $ 200 million on Wednesday, officials said the same source.

The steel complex of El Hajar is 70%-owned by Arcelor Mittal and 30% by the Algerian public group Sider.
