The Ministerial Preparatory Meeting of the 5th International Conference in Tokyo on African Development (TICAD), opened on Saturday in Addis Ababa, with the participation of Morocco.

The kingdom is represented at the conference by a strong delegation led by the Minister of General Affairs and Governance, Mohamed Najib Boulif.

The Moroccan delegation also includes the ambassadors of the Kingdom in Ethiopia and Japan, and Samir Abdeljebbar Brahime Arrour, in addition to officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

The topics to be discussed at the conference include the stimulation of economic growth, building resilient societies, the consolidation of peace and good governance, in addition to climate change as a major development challenges.

This ministerial meeting is organized by Japan in collaboration with the UN, World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union (AU).

The 5th edition of TICAD, scheduled from 1 to 3 June in Yokohama, Japan under the theme "Hand in hand with a more dynamic Africa" ​​is of particular importance in that it marks the 20th anniversary of this process.

TICAD initiative launched in 1993 in Japan for the development of Africa. It has two main objectives: to promote a political dialogue between high-level African leaders and their development partners, and mobilize support for initiatives development designed by Africans themselves.
