Tangiers Med port ranks among best ports worldwide

Tangiers - The Tangiers Med port is ranking among the best ports worldwide in the yearly rankings by British magazine "Container Management".

Thanks to the good performance posted in 2014, the Tangiers Med port held the 46th spot in the world's rankings. It is the fifth Mediterranean port, ahead of Italy's Gioia Tauro port and Malta port, according to a statement by the port authority of Tangiers Med.

By ranking among the 50 best world's ports, the Tangiers Med port won 9 spots between 2013 and 2014, reinforcing Morocco's position as a hub for sea trade, said the statement.

Containers traffic in the Tangiers Med port reached 1,550,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) by the end of June 2015, which is an increase of 4 pc compared to the same period a year before.
