Speakers of African parliaments welcome model of South-South development led by Morocco

Rabat - Speakers of the national assemblies of several African countries participating in the meeting of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF), welcomed, Thursday in Rabat, the old-standing ties of friendship between the people and their Moroccan and Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the dynamics of south-South development led by Morocco, in the service of peace, stability and prosperity of the peoples of the continent.

It is the friendliness and hospitality of the Moroccan people with its African brothers and friends which energize relations uniting Morocco and sub-Saharan counterparts, hence the need to further strengthen these relations for the benefit of the peoples of the continent, said the speakers of the national Assemblies of Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Niger and DRC, following the talks, held, Thursday in Rabat, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Karim Ghellab.

The deep historical ties between Rabat and Yamoussoukro continue to grow for the benefit of Moroccan and Ivorian people, said Guillaume Soro. He further highlighted the important role played by the Kingdom to promote South-South cooperation and contribute to the economic and social development in Africa.

For his part, speaker of the National Assembly of Senegal, Moustapha Niasse, hailed the exceptional ties between Dakar and Rabat, calling for strengthening bilateral economic and social cooperation. Speaker of the National Assembly of Niger, Hama Amadou, stressed that "Nigerians attach great importance to relations between Morocco and Niger," calling for strengthening ties between the two legislative bodies.

President of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Aubin Minaku Ndjalandjoko, stressed the need to learn from the Moroccan experience in parliamentary action, legislation and governance. In a similar statement, Ghellab said his talks with his African counterparts discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and theses countries, and increase exchanges of visits between parliamentarians.
