Speaker of House of Representatives Received by President of Montenegro

Podgorica (Montenegro) - Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki was received, Monday in Podgorica, by President of Montenegro Milo Djukanovic and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation relations between Morocco and Montenegro.

In a statement to MAP after the meeting, El Malki said that the President of Montenegro hailed the excellent relations between the two countries, welcoming the leadership of Morocco in the Mediterranean region and Africa, mainly in the consolidation of security and peace in some parts of Africa. During this meeting attended by Moroccan ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro Mohamed Amine Belhaj, Djukanovic cited as a model the Moroccan approach to fight terrorism as well as human and drug trafficking, noting that the visit by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to Montenegro is of paramount importance for the consolidation of bilateral relations.

He also lauded the signing of a cooperation agreement between the parliaments of the two countries, noting the role of this instrument in promoting and reviving bilateral relations. He underlined the existence of many opportunities for partnership between the two countries, especially in the field of sea transportation, ports, tourism and renewable energy. The President of Montenegro suggested the conclusion of an economic cooperation agreement, hailing the proposal for the creation of the Morocco-Montenegro Business Affairs and the organization on June 22-28 of the Moroccan cultural week in Montenegro. Djukanovic also instructed El Malki to convey his greetings and thanks to HM King Mohammed VI for congratulating him on the occasion of his election, and welcomed the policy of HM the King nationally and internationally.
