Spanish-Moroccan security cooperation, exemplary'

"The security services of the two countries work in a climate of trust, recognition and mutual respect in sensitive and difficult areas such as the fight against terrorism," the Europa Press news agency quoted the Spanish Minister in a written answer to a question by an MP.

The Minister said that the honour paid by the Spanish government last October in Madrid to the chief of Morocco's domestic intelligence (DGST) along with other officials represents a recognition of the "high-level cooperation between Morocco and Spain in combating terrorism."

He added that the joint operations between the security services of the two countries led to the arrest of dozen individuals involved in terrorist networks specialised in recruiting, funding and radicalising and dispatching jihadists to conflict zones.

These operations are of key importance to the security of the two countries whose intelligence cooperation is a milestone in Moroccan-Spanish relations, the Spanish official went on to say.
