Spain must deepen its good relations with Morocco and at the same time get involved in improving ties with other Maghreb countries, says the institute in a report submitted, Monday night in Madrid, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation José Manuel Garcia Margallo, the two former Spanish foreign ministers Marcelino Oreja and Javier Solana and the President of the Elcano Institute Emilio Lamo de Espinosa.

In this document, the Spanish Institute focuses on the strategic importance for the foreign policy of Spain to maintain "good relations" with Morocco, given its strategic position and opportunities. "Towards a strategic renovation of Spanish foreign policy," the report of the El Cano Institute was elaborated by nearly 200 Spanish experts, researchers, high-ranking civil servants, representatives of multinationals, SMEs, NGOs, trade unionists, journalists, and MPs from all political parties.
