Rabat, May 8 : Spanish and Moroccan security services on Tuesday collaborated to dismantle a terror cell affiliated with the Islamic State group and operating in both countries, leading to the arrest of five people.

Of the five arrested, three were active in Morocco's Fnideq city while two others were operating in Spain's Bilbao, according to a statement by the Moroccan Interior Ministry.

The detainees were believed by authorities to be planning on recruiting people into the IS and were supposedly involved in propaganda campaigns that aimed to spread extremist ideology, said the statement.

During the operations, police seized electronic equipment, knives and camouflage military uniforms.
