Spain: Moroccan Arrested for Allegedly Belonging to ISIS, Police

Madrid - The Spanish national police announced, on Thursday, the arrest in the commune of Parla (central Spain) of a man of Moroccan nationality for allegedly belonging to ISIS terrorist organization. The suspect, aged 25, was part of an international network of ISIS members who were interacting with each other via virtual communication channels, the source said in a statement. The man, who was "very radicalized", used his profiles on social media to conduct a propaganda for the ideology of this terrorist organization, in order to attract, indoctrinate and recruit new members.

Police investigation found that the suspect, who was very active on social media, had downloaded and posted multimedia content in favor of the said terrorist organization, in which he encourages jihadist terrorism, the statement said, noting that the accused was imprisoned. The search of the suspect's home enabled to seize equipment, electronic media, telephone terminals and important documents. This operation, carried out in collaboration with the European police agency Europol, also made it possible to arrest another person for his alleged implication in a crime against public health, added the same source.
