Secretary executive of CTBTO hails Morocco's role in ratification of Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

Vienna - Secretary general of the Preparatory Commission of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) Lassina Zerbo hailed, on Tuesday in Vienna, Morocco's role in promoting the ratification of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty as a co-chairman, along with France, of the Article XIV ministerial conference for facilitating the treaty's entry into force.

Zerbo, who met with foreign minister Saad Dine El Otmani, on the sidelines of his participation in the international conference on nuclear security, also commended the work done by Morocco, during this co-chairmanship, through the elaboration of a joint action plan used as a road map of relevant political events at the multilateral, bilateral and regional levels in order to speed up the enforcement of the treaty.

Morocco has ratified, in April 2000, the Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty.

To date, the CTBT received 183 signatures and 159 ratifications.
