Sanofi invests €20m in Morocco
Sanofi has reinforced its presence in North Africa with a €20m investment in Morocco.The France-based pharma company opened a logistics hub in Casablanca, which is set to become the largest distribution centre for Sanofi's medicines in Africa.

It will handle 1,300 product produced by Sanofi's Moroccan subsidiary Sanofi-Aventis Maroc, with these set for use either in Morocco and for exportation to sub-Saharan Africa, reports the specialist site PMLive.
The hub adds to Sanofi's existing operations in the country, which comprises a workforce of 900 people and facilities, such as the Maphar production site in Zenata, Casablanca.
Sanofi also announced it was collaborating with Morocco's government in three priority healthcare areas,to improve care of patients with diabetes type 1,patients with mental health conditions and epilepsy. It will also provide training fora career in the pharmaceutical industry.
The diabetes agreement is set to last three years and will involve Sanofi-Aventis Maroc and the Ministry of Health collaborating to develop standard care protocols for children and young people with diabetes.
This will include a standardised therapeutic education programme and the creation of two new diabetes paediatric centres in Oujda and Agadir, adding to the existing 11 centres in the country.
The mental health and epilepsy collaboration also involves Sanofi-Aventis Maroc and the Ministry of Health, and aims to provide trainining on these conditions for 40 psychiatrists, 40 neurologists, 160 GPs and 160 nurses. There will also be a campaign to raise awareness of these condtions among the Moroccan population.
The third agreement involves the Ministry of Trade, Industry and New Technologies, which will work with its health counterpart and Sanofi to create a general framework for the development of the Moroccan pharmaceutical industry .Specifically, Sanofi's involvement will feature training on the pharma industry for agents, technicians and managers working in the Ministry of Health.
