Salaries: Moroccans top in N.Africa
If the Egyptians had the highest wage increases in 2011, the Moroccan employees remain the highest paid. That at least is what emerges from the traditional Mercer survey on incomes in the world.

Need a large increase in salary? Have a revolution! This is the advice that Egyptian executives could give to their brothers in North Africa. According to the latest survey by Mercer, a specialist in compensation studies, their income rose nearly 11% in 2011, far ahead of those Moroccans (about + 6%).
Stay good and disciplined obviously has further advantages in negotiations. But the subjects of His Majesty may be assured that they still remain in a stable situation, and this is essentially the best paid country in the region. In the kingdom, a corporate executive receives between 75,000 and 180,000 euros per year, whereas at an equal level of responsibility, pay starts at 60,000 euros in Egypt and is capped at 120,000 euros in Tunisia and Algeria.
Multinationals
If Moroccan and Egyptian employers fare just as well in playing their game, this is primarily because their countries are the bases for numerous regional corporations, which, focusing on the quality of their recruits, do not hesitate to pay them at levels close to those prevailing in Eastern Europe.
For managerial functions, the ranking order is unchanged: the Moroccans (34,000 euros per year) ahead of the Egyptians (26,000 euros) and Tunisians (21,200 euros). Last and least, Algeria (16,600 euros) Algerians are victims of the sluggish economy.
These rankings include wages, in addition to basic salary, fringe benefits (5% to 15% of total), bonuses (from 6% to 25%) and benefits, particularly popular in Morocco (up 20%) .
