Rabat - Sahel countries want to benefit from the expertize of Morocco in the field of border defence and management, said, Monday in Rabat, G5 Sahel Permanent Secretary Maman Sambo Sidikou.

In a statement to the press following a meeting with Minister Delegate for National Defence Administration Abdeltif Loudyi, Sambo Sidikou, who is on a two-day working visit in Morocco, expressed the will of the G5 Sahel (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Chad) to benefit from Morocco's expertise in the fight against armed gangs and terrorist groups. "Morocco has always been on the side of the Sahel countries," he said, noting that a large number of G5 Sahel officers and defence and security staff are undergoing training in Moroccan schools. "We are facing highly sophisticated terrorist groups, we must grow stronger," he said, adding that the G5 Sahel has nearly 5,000 people on the borders of these 5 countries that lead the fight against terrorism and protect populations. He also stressed the need to build "strong" defence cooperation and deepen South-South cooperation in this area.
