Sahara: FM proposes creation of parliament-government joint committee for defending territorial integrity

Rabat - Foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar proposed, on Thursday in Rabat, the creation of a parliament-government joint committee to prepare for the next stage of the process of defending Morocco's territorial integrity.

Surveying the latest developments of the cause of the Moroccan Sahara during a joint meeting of the committee of foreign affairs, national defense, endowment and Islamic affairs, and Moroccan expatriates at the lower house, and the committee of foreign affairs, borders, occupied zones and national defense at the house of advisors, Mezouar said that the goal of this committee is to come up with concrete proposals to set dates, agendas and priorities.

To accelerate the pace of coordination for the defense of the national cause, Mezouar called for the development of a clear strategy concerning parallel diplomacy with the involvement of parliament, political parties, civil society and media outlets. The minister stressed that Morocco will not allow anyone to trespass the framework set for the negotiation process over the Moroccan Sahara.
