Sabah Benziadi the Algerian choreographer
Sabah Benziadi was born in Algeria and as a child studied with her mother and grandmother who were both dancers. She gave her first performance at the age of 10 in the " Algiers National Theatre" .The early part of her career was in Algeria.

She arrived in Europe in 1989, first in Germany and later in Italy where she has lived from 1991 and was the first person to introduce belly dancing in Sicily.
Sabah has been able, through her innovative interpretations and the grace of her performances, to demonstrate her ability widelyand has developed a repertoire of work comprised of various types of dances that are unified under the term Oriental / Eastern Dance.
The artist teaches dance in Italy, but also in Egypt, the UAE, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco. Her repertoire includes, in addition to Algerian dance called al Aassima Rasksat, the dance of seven veils, club dancing, candelabra dancing,the dances of Ouled Nails, the Tuaregs, traditional dances and dances of North Africa, writes APS.
"Sabah is thriving in the world, thanks not only to emotions and sensations aroused by her dances and her choreography, but even more, by the grace of her movements which emanate a certain magic and a hymn to life," says an Italian newspaper.
"I participated in many international festivals as well as cultural presentations. At the festival of Babylon in Iraq, I received the "Award of Merit", as I participated as an Algerian artist , in many television programs especially in the Mediterranean, she said, regretting that she never attended a festival in Algeria.
The choreographer has also created a cultural association called "Sabah", through which, she says, "Arabic is taught in Italian" and used for dance classes, in particular for girls in Sicily (where the local dialect contains words borrowed from Arabic).
"At Sciacca in Agrigento (Sicily) a film festival is held annually in August. Its promoters were responsible for selecting me for this event, films from Arab countries,in the six previous festivals this city, no Algerian director was present, "she laments, expressing the hope that in the next scheduled Literature Festival in Sicily,Algerian writers will be invited.
The choreographer reported that Italian television RAI, who had invited her repeatedly to explain her artand has made available a room for Palermo she says for organizing any cultural initiatives on Algeria, but due to "lack of Algerian sponsors Algerian this great opportunity never materialized."
