Skhirat - Road accidents gobble 2 points of Morocco's GDP, a huge loss for the Moroccan economy, Tuesday said the minister of transport and equipment Aziz Rebbah at the opening of an international technical training on "security and road signs."

The minister said that his department is aware of the importance of the road safety management and has implemented, in this regard, an integrated national strategy based on the overhaul of the legislation, the strengthening of the controls and sanctions, the training of drivers, the reform of the exams of driving license in addition of the improvement of road infrastructures.
Among the main achievements of this strategy is the institutionalization of the Inter Ministerial Committee for Road Safety, chaired by the Head of Government, the adoption of a new Code of the road and the upgrade of the road network and equipment, he added.
Road accidents killed around 4000 people during 2012.
