Reopening of Hassan II Mosque and Moroccan Cultural Center in Nouakchott after Their Renovation
Speaking on this occasion, the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Mauritania, Hamid Chabbar called for the protection and enhancement of common cultural heritage between Morocco and Mauritania.
"Today, we are called upon more than ever to work to enhance the common civilizational, religious, cultural and historical heritage to the service of strong relations between the two brotherly countries," he said.
During this ceremony, attended by Mauritanian Minister of Islamic Affairs and Education, Dah Ould Sidi Ould Amar Taleb, he stressed the important role played by this religious and cultural facility which is a major civilizational landmark in the Mauritanian capital.
In order to strengthen the bridges of communication and further consolidate cooperation between the two countries, the various actors in Mauritania contribute to popularize this common religious, cultural, civilizational and historical heritage, he underlined.
The diplomat said that the Moroccan cultural center in Nouakchott has worked to diversify the cultural offer presented with the aim of expanding the number of beneficiaries of its services.
Inaugurated in 1987, the Moroccan religious and cultural center of Nouakchott includes a library with more than 10,000 books and rare manuscripts, an amphitheater, a reading room, as well as a traditional Moroccan lounge, in addition to spaces dedicated to theatrical evenings, musicals, fashion shows and plastic art exhibitions, as well as culinary art events.
