Rabat - Morocco and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed, here Wednesday, their common will to further reinforce the strategic dimension of their relations in accordance with the guidelines of the leaders of the two countries.
"Both countries have a strong common ambition to develop their relations, renew and diversify them to seize the opportunities available", Foreign Minister Salaheddine Mezouar said at a joint press briefing following a meeting with his Saudi peer Adil Al-Jubeir.

Mezouar stressed that the two sides agreed, during their meeting, to hold the 13th Moroccan-Saudi joint committee in May in Morocco, a meeting that "will be an opportunity to give new impetus to bilateral relations".

He said the talks were an opportunity to highlight the total solidarity of Morocco with Saudi Arabia to fight any interference in its internal affairs and to repel any attack on its territorial integrity, adding that this is "a strong and renewed confirmation that, based on the foundations laid by our leaders for ages, emanates from our conviction that relations between the two countries, their common interests and the question of security and stability in an environment that we all know, are constants in the relations between our two countries".

Concerning the Moroccan Sahara issue, the Saudi Foreign Minister underlined "the permanent concordance of positions of the two countries" and welcomed, in this regard, the efforts of HM King Mohammed VI, which reflects the high solicitude of the Sovereign towards the Sahara region, reiterating the support of his country to the Sahara autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

Stressing "the constant position of Saudi Arabia about the Sahara", the Saudi diplomat underlined that "Saudi Arabia welcomes and supports the initiative of HM King Mohammed VI related to the autonomy plan for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty. We hope to see an urgent solution to this problem".
