Barcelona: The Qatari Telecommunications Qtel Group announced Tuesday in Barcelona change its brand and becomes OOREDOO ( in Arabic"' I want "), the group said in a statement.

This announcement was made on Monday by the Chairman of the Board of Directors OOREDOO group, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani in Barcelona where the company  is participating  in the Mobile World Congress.

The OOREDOO brand will be adopted by the Group and each of its subsidiaries in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia in the course of 2013 and 2014, said the group that communicates that it has  " has one of the largest growths in the world. "

Subsidiaries affected by this change "are those in which OOREDOO already holds a majority interest" includes brands such as "Qtel Qatar, Indosat in Indonesia, Wataniya Kuwait, Nawras in Oman, and  Tunisiana in Tunisia and Nedjma in Algeria ".

The choice of the new brand is explained by the CEO OOREDOO Dr. Nasser Marafih: "We chose an Arabic word which means 'I want' reflecting the aspirations of our clients and our firm belief that we can enrich the lives of peoples and promote human development in the communities where we operate, "said the CEO, quoted by the press.

Present in Barcelona, ​​the Director General of Nedjma Algerian subsidiary of Qtel, Mr. Joseph Ged, stated that "this new brand opens new opportunities for millions of Algerians (who) will have the chance to enjoy the leadership of one of the largest telecommunications groups in the world. "

The same official went on to say that "OOREDOO, through its subsidiaries, is a proud member Nedjma, work to provide services and the most innovative mobile solutions and best practices to improve the daily life and work of our customers Algeria ".

OOREDOO went from a single market operator in Qatar international telecommunications company with a customer base of over 89.2 million people in the September 30, 2012 and revenues of $ 6.8 billion during the first nine months the year 2012, according to the statement.
