Press:The Pentagon has opened a permanent military branch in Mauritania

The Pentagon has decided to open a liaison office with the Mauritanian authorities for the management of  the military cooperation with Nouakchott, particularly in terms of training, training and logistical support.

Informed sources quoted by Mauritanian media, said a manager was appointed by the U.S. Army to lead this new office, Major Pitney Brown, an officer in the U.S. Air Force, who will be responsible for defining the needs of the Mauritanian army in terms of equipment and expertise.

Note that the USA have greatly increased their degree of coordination with the armies of Mauritania and Niger, neighboring countries of Mali, which is currently  in a French led war against 'terrorists' groups from Algeria.

Informed sources have indicated that U.S. airbase for drones is based in Niamey, Niger, with reconnaissance fields, but also for disposal of elements suspected of jihadist Salafism and terrorism.
