Rabat - A police inspector under the security district of Témara, near Rabat, was forced on Sunday afternoon to pull his service weapon without using it during a security intervention to arrest a 37-year-old individual who intentionally violated the measures of the state of health emergency and was seriously endangering the safety of police elements with a sharp object.

A statement by the national police (DGSN) said that a police patrol had intervened to apprehend an individual after violating the procedures for restricting the movement of citizens required by the state of health emergency, before his brother attacked the members of the patrol with fragments of a glass bottle, forcing the police officer to pull his weapon in order to curb the danger.

The first suspect was placed in police custody to complete the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, added the same source, noting that search operations and investigations are under way with a view to arresting his brother and also subjecting him to a judicial inquiry to determine the criminal acts of which he is accused.
