The show, inspired by the myth of Orpheus and derived from the Greek tradition, was rewritten by Daniela Giordano, director of the company decided to relocate to Africa, "land of love and harmony," she said. Only actress on stage, Daniela Giordano plays the role of Yame, the wife of Orpheus African transposing tragedy in contemporary reality, while Orpheus is played by the dancer Jean Ndiaye of Senegal.

As in the myth, the character looks for his wife throughout the play, while he is looking for him in a quest for maturity and the love that reflects a contemporary choreography, developed by Lamine Dabo. The new writing and staging of the play allowed the introduction of a musical component executed by Ismaila African djembe and Djibril Mbaye in Gningue the kora and vocals.

Both Senegalese musicians ensured much noise and background music as interludes, purely Senegalese music. As a backdrop, a simple diamond white fabric, hung on the back of the stage, indicating the separation between the living world, that of Orpheus, and the land of the dead who keeps captive his wife, leaving the rest of the performance space open to allow the dancer and actress to evolve freely.

This piece focuses on diversity, and especially Africa, "the only place on earth where man can live in harmony with nature", told the APS, Daniela Giordano, author and actress, explaining that the African version of Orpheus revolved around the difference between whites and blacks and that "it should be preserved."

For this artist, difference, otherness is "the only way to live in peace." Although this concept is difficult to assimilate, she says, "the art and allow the scene to see just great, especially to share his ideas (as an artist) with the public, whatever" she said.

The author also told that in rewriting the piece it made a little justice to the love, as in the original myth Ophéa lose his wife forever, while in the modern version of the two people end up staying together for Once Orpheus is ready and mature enough to find his wife.

Founded in 2000, the show "Orpheus" has since played in several countries in Europe and North Africa and was awarded many times.
