Vendredi 24 Août 2012

The global investment in oil and gas sector this year will exceed 1,trillion, due to increased activity in exploration and production, according to a study by the firm GlobalData.
Oil investments will exceed 1 trillion dollars worldwide in 2012
According to this organization, investments in the oil sector are expected to increase 13.4% this year to reach the huge amount of 1.039 trillion dollars (about 833 billion euros), APS reports.

This sharp increase is due to increased activity in the upstream oil and gas industry (research and extraction of hydrocarbons), mainly at sea, either offshore Brazil, in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Arctic.

This bond is reinforced by the increase in discoveries of oil and gas, the sustained high oil prices and new  technological fields giving access to very deep underwater offshore fields, which make exploitation technically and financially feasible.

Regarding geographical distribution of these investments, a little over a quarter of the windfall ($ 254 billion) will be spent in North America, due to the development of gas and oil shale and oil sands.

Asia-Pacific will be almost the same and the Middle East and Africa will follow with nearly $ 230 billion.

Finally, the investment of national oil companies are expected to exceed those of their private competitors. Among the first Brazilian companies Petrobras comes to mind, and in the second category is the U.S. ExxonMobil will spend the most. The firm points out that  between the two of them, these companies plan to invest more than $ 400 billion by 2016.
