Northern Mali: The passivity against terrorist groups, a"concern" for Algeria, says Ould Kablia

Minister of Interior Daho Ould Kablia said Saturday in Algiers that the passivity in northern Mali against terrorists on its soil was "of concern" for Algeria.

Ould Kablia  told Channel I of national radio, that Algeria "deplores" the separation between the northern and southern Mali, adding that "the activities of terrorist elements and organized crime groups in the North is a source of concern as it does not try to deal with it."

He referred in this regard, the kidnapping of the Consul of Algeria in Gao (Mali) and six employees in early April, stressing that negotiations for their release imposed "discretion" and that the issue was the "prerogative of foreign minister and military officials on the border."

With regard to border security with Libya, the official stressed that "the situation is under control and there is no infiltration of terrorist groups in Algeria from Libya nor from Algeria to Libyan territory."

"The situation in Libya is improving and things are getting stabilized," said Ould Kablia recalling the readiness of Algeria "to lend a hand to Libyans who need to build institutions and instruments for the establishment of a legitimate state ".
