Rabat - The National competition for Mohammed VI Qur'an memorization and declamation award opened on Monday in Rabat.

Some 246 people, including 28 females, are taking part in the event after succeeding in the preliminary phases organized locally by the regional offices of Islamic Affairs in coordination with the Councils of Ulema.

The jury is composed of Moroccan Ulema specialized in declamation.

The competition, which has started in the regional and provincial offices of Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer, Great Casablanca, Tangier-Tetouan, Fez-Boulemane, and Gharb-Cherarda-Beni Hsein, will be launched Tuesday in Doukkala-Abda , Tadla-Azilal, Chaouia-Ouardigha, Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz and Meknes-Tafilalt.

On Wednesday, the contest will kick off in the regions of Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounate, Oued-EdDahab-Lagouira, Laayoune-Boujdour-Sakia Al Hamra, Guelmim-Smara, Souss-Massa-Draa and the eastern region.
