Museum of Intangible Heritage of Jamaâ El Fna Square, Qualitative Leap in Promotion of Intangible Heritage in Morocco (Head of ISESCO)
Marrakech - The creation of the Museum of Intangible Heritage of Jamaâ El Fna Square in Marrakech represents a qualitative leap in the promotion of intangible heritage, which enjoys particular interest on the part of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, underlined, Wednesday in Marrakech, the director general of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Salem Bin Mohammed Al Malik. In a statement to the press on the occasion of the ceremony to launch the development works of the Museum of Intangible Heritage of Jamaâ El Fna Square, Al Malik congratulated Morocco for the creation of this structure dedicated to raising awareness of the public about this intangible culture and mythical place.
In this context, the Director General of ISESCO indicated that the creation of this museum is part of the implementation of a cooperation agreement signed last October between ISESCO and the National Museum Foundation (FNM), noting that this museum is an embodiment of the new vision of the Organization which takes interest in the preservation of heritage of the various Member States. Within the framework of this agreement, the UNESCO was associated with the organization of the exhibition "Delacroix: retour au Maroc", which the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is preparing to organize next April, he said, adding that among the aspects of cooperation between ISESCO and FNM is the organization of an international forum on the occasion of the International Day of Islamic Art (November 18, 2021), an event dedicated to demonstrating the true image of Islamic art.
